Blues on the Block is a project of creative placemaking. NBM engages our community and involves not only musicians but also artists, poets, dancers, and other creatives. The goal is to advance social change, which ultimately creates systemic changes. Music moved movements!

Lillian Gardner was the summer artist-in-residence at Blues on the Block. She is an artist and writer who, "wants to do more than just live life, but be present in every sense of the word". Gardner says, "When I create, I hope that the viewer can take away something that resonates with them or find their own joy and understanding through some form of art or artistic expression.”
